July 4th

This morning we went to the park to draw and collect items from the roadside, and in the afternoon we made both flat and 3D maps.

I think the most interesting part of the day was making the 3D map because I thought it was visually appealing to turn a flat map into a 3D image and I enjoyed the process of making it. Another reason is that I think making a 3D map is a process of discovery, because in the process of making it we think about what materials we need and then we find the right materials and use them wisely.

On my walk today I found a lot of squirrels, which is a surprise to me because we don't see many squirrels in China. I also found out that there are many different kinds of manhole covers in London and that the animals here are not too scared of people, and lastly I learnt a lot about the use of tools.

My last 3D map was of the door to Lucas Garden. I used small stones from the roadside and cardboard and wire to create a rough environment.
